When father’s day came around last year my kids decided that they wanted to make him a wall key holder for father’s day. I admit that I am not the handiest person in the world, but I thought that this was probably a project that I could handle very well, especially since our local home improvement store was willing to cut all of the wood for me at their warehouse so that I would not have to purchase any saws or other special equipment. The person who helped me by cutting the wood also told me the best way to construct the frame, etc. to make the process simple.
Needless to say, it was tougher than I thought simply because I decided to take a hands off approach and let the kids try to build it for themselves (I wanted to jump in and help but it was their project). Thy bought hinges and made a swinging door for the wall key holder and purchased peg board for the back and put hooks into them to hold the keys. Then they painted it in very interesting colors. In the end it was a very funny looking key holder but my husband loved it and the kids were proud of their project.

Working for a company that delivers parts and inventory to other companies means that we have a number of fleet cars for employees to use on their runs. We have a very good system for managing the keys by using a tri fold wall key holder. How this key holder works is that it is mounted on the wall (okay that was obvious) and it has a cover on it that locks so that only myself or the supervisor can get into it. Inside there are three panels on hinges that hold keys on each side, giving us enough room for about 120 keys including the back part, which is not on a hinge.
In order to key a key from the wall key holder an employee has to come to me or the supervisor and request a vehicle and then sign out for it. This allows us to ensure that we know where every vehicle is at all times and if a vehicle is in its parking space but there is no key in the slot, then we know which employee to visit to retrieve the keys (and unfortunately write them e up for not turning in their keys). It is a very efficient system for our office.

My husband and I both do the same thing when we walk into the front door of our home, we place our keys where ever seems convenient at the time and then search around frantically for them every time it is time to leave the house. There are times that I put it in my purse or on top of the fridge (if my hands are full when I come in and I drop the rest of the stuff on the kitchen counter), or on my bookshelf or just drop them in my purse when I get out of the van. I finally decided that it might be time to purchase a wall key holder when I had to hire a locksmith to make new keys for the van and then found my keys in the laundry hamper the next day.
The wall key holder has made a big difference in our home when it comes to leaving. There is no searching for the keys or the kids sitting around rolling their eyes waiting for me or my husband to find the keys to the van so that we can leave. Now we walk to the door, reach out and there they are.

Do you like to be creative when it comes to gift giving? Do you generally buy your dad a gift for Father’s Day, or do you make him something. If you are into making gifts, or you just want to try it out and see how it goes, why not make a wall key holder for your dad? Most men like utilitarian things or things that they can use. That being said, this is the perfect item. The first thing you will need to do is scope out a place in your dad’s home where he would be likely to hang the item. This is so you can get an idea of what size you should make it.
If you are very crafty, you may want to fashion something out of wood or iron. If you are not that skilled, you can always buy something and convert it into a wall key holder. Think in a creative manner. What does your dad like? If he is into fishing, then perhaps you can design something that has fish or fishing equipment details. If he loves the outdoors, then perhaps you can incorporate some elements of nature into the design. By giving it some thought, you should be able to create the perfect gift.

My sister is a perfectionist. She has to have everything just so in order for her to be happy. Last weekend, she decided that she needed a wall key holder in order to organize her keys. She asked me to help her pick one out. I told her that the first thing we needed to do was determine where she was planning on hanging the item. After some deliberation, she decided to hang it by her back door. She told me that she wanted the holder to match the decor in the room which is French Country.
While she was concerned with looks, I was more concerned with location and space. I went to her house to measure the area that she as planning to hang it. After I determined the maximum size we could purchase, we began doing some online shopping. I never knew that a wall key holder could come in so many different styles and sizes. After a couple of hours of searching, she found one that she really liked, but it was out of stock. I suggested that she keep looking. She found another one she liked even better and ordered it. Now, when it arrives, I will need to hang it for her.

Losing or misplacing things is never enjoyable. The feeling of not knowing where something you need or want happens to be is unpleasant, irritating and frustrating. To avoid these type of situations with the keys that you own, why not install a wall key holder? You may think that you don’t need one of these hangers, but they are of benefit. Once you get into the habit of placing your keys there, you will always know where to find them. What could be a better feeling than knowing that when you need to find them, they will always be in a designated space?
Another reason that a wall key holder is a good thing to have is to keep your keys from being carried off by kids or pets. Both animals and children have a fascination with shiny things, so why give them the temptation? Instead, place them up and and out of reach and you will never have to worry. You can also think of the hanger as a decoration for your wall. There are all types from which to choose that can add to your current decor. All in all, there is really no reason not to buy one, and many good reasons to make such a purchase.
